The Prayer Garden at our church is beautiful and suffered from neglect. The more it is used, the more beautiful it grows. Follow along with the seasons of the year and pray through all of the seasons of your heart. It is hard to see the Hibiscus which is behind and to the left of the bench. It froze to the ground and I cut is all the way back. I was chastised.....Now in mid summer it is seven feet tall and flourishing. God's beauty pushes through dead looking stalks. We are experiencing a drought in our area but the prayer garden is exempt from the brown and dry leaves that are just beyond the gate. May we all water our hearts with prayer and be bigger than the spiritual droughts all around us. God has beauty for you today.

ReplyDeleteI inherited the garden when I move here 2 1/2 years ago. The space was well designed with drains and cedar edging to begin with. Drains cost little and really make it possible to grow anything. Spenign a little extra for edging cuts the maintenance. Two things I would suggest. First is hardy and local plant selections. We tried pansies and mums and the maintenance became a problem.
DeleteThe second is spiritual. It is the praying folks and not "Building and Grounds" that will make it grow and flourish. The weeds were hip high when I got here. As the garden was neglected, so was our prayer life. Prayer will grow the beauty that God will use to grow hearts for Christ.
